🥋 Tap Nap & Snap Is Finishing Up

... but the ride doesn't stop here

Welcome back to Tap Nap & Snap - the newsletter that’s closing shop after nearly 2 years of serving up all the BJJ highlights, lowlights, giveaways, memes and techniques we could get our damaged little hands on.

We want to give a massive shout-out to our sponsors that helped push it along, but mostly, to you guys, the folks who read, comment and get involved with it every week (or fortnight, depending on how ‘together’ our ‘sh*t’ has been).

It’s been a lot of fun.

As with everything though, there’s more to the story here and ‘closing shop’ might not be the best way to frame it. What I can say for now is … all will be revealed in a fortnight’s time 😏

Rightio - here’s what we’ve got today:

  • How’s your 2025 BJJ Goal Planner looking?

  • A leglock battle worth a close watch.

  • A meme that pulls back the curtain a bit.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

This Week’s Tap’s , Nap’s 🥱 & Snap’s 🫰

We hear you. Time is money - you want your BJJ news, but you’ve got thangs to do … those training partners won’t tap themselves.

Here’s what’s doing the rounds in Jiu-Jitsu this week. Choose your own adventure. 👇

QUESTION TIME

What Keeps You Up At 2 am?

Cast your mind all the way back to the start of this year when you were hopped up on New Year’s vibes and boundless enthusiasm.

We asked you if you had any BJJ Goals for 2025, and tonnes of you gave us a ‘Sure Do’ - with a few of you even publicly stating them for that added accountability factor ⬇️

Well, this week, we’re taking a mid-year temperature check to see if you’re on track. I know we’re a bit early, but I’m a morning class guy, so I like to get it done before anyone else is even awake.

So - how’s it tracking? Are you on target for what you want to achieve in the sport this year? Or do you need to lock in and re-focus for a strong finish? 👇

This week’s big question:

Are You On Track With Your BJJ Goals This Year?

Last time, we asked you - “What's Your Funniest BJJ-Related Story?”

🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 🖐️ - "This one time, I..."

🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 🫵 - "I saw someone else..."

⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ 🤷‍♂️ - "Honestly, it's all been pretty vanilla ..."

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 🚫 - "I'm taking it to my grave, you'll never know"

Most of you have seen some sh*t, but refuse to dish the details. It’s downright loyal / wimpy, and I’m honestly impressed / disappointed.

That being said, a couple of you were happy to share your thoughts, but the real win here is knowing that no one’s had a vanilla time… 👇

WHAT’S SO FUNNY?

The Meme Open Mat:

For those of you paying attention, here’s an ‘easter egg’ 😏👇…

FREAK FOR THE TECHNIQUE

Learn From This LegLock LegPop…

The UFC recently put on Cory Sandhagen vs. Deiveson Figueiredo, and it turned into a leglocks for MMA masterclass.

With Figgy known to be sharp with the leg attacks and Sandhagen trained by none other than Ryan Hall, both of these guys went to work hitting smooth K-guard entries and 50:50 sequences that would make any jits player take note.

Combat Arcade has a great breakdown here of the key highlights and the moment where one guy’s leg couldn’t hack it anymore…
